Policies

Privacy, terms and accessibility.

Version 0.1 (draft, to be reviewed by a trusted adult before launch). Effective date: to be set at launch.

Privacy Policy

We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Here is what we collect, in plain language.

What we collect and why

  • Volunteer applications: name, email, role interest, availability, a short note. To review applications and contact applicants.
  • School requests: school name, contact name and email, approximate need, delivery address. To fulfil requests. Delivery addresses are visible only to signed-in team members.
  • Newsletter: email and, optionally, first and last name. To send occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing us, and we will remove you from the list.
  • Pin purchases: handled by Stripe. We receive order and contact details from Stripe. We never see full card numbers.
  • Team sign-in: approved team members sign in with their email and a one-time code sent by Cloudflare Access.
  • Visits: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and has no advertising trackers, so there is no cookie banner.

How long we keep it

Only as long as needed for those purposes. We review stored applications and requests at least once a year and delete what we no longer need.

Where it's stored and who handles it

Data is stored with Cloudflare in Canada or the United States. Our service providers are Cloudflare (hosting, database, form protection, team sign-in) and Stripe (payments).

Young people

Many of our volunteers and supporters are teens. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before sending us personal information. We will delete a young person's information when they, or a parent or guardian, ask us to.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or ask a privacy question, by emailing hello@flowingpurple.org.

Terms of Use

  • Information on this site is general and may change as the initiative grows.
  • Pin sales are final, except that defective pins will be replaced or refunded.
  • The pads-per-pin promise says how many pads each $5 pin helps buy. It is calculated on revenue (to be confirmed before launch). If the calculation changes, we will change it only going forward, and add a dated note here first.
  • No tax receipts. A pin is a purchase, not a donation.
  • We do our best to keep the site accurate, but we are not liable for losses from relying on it.

Accessibility Statement

We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That includes keyboard navigation, strong colour contrast, text alternatives for images, labelled form fields, and respect for reduced-motion settings. The animated hero on the home page can be paused and controlled with buttons.

If you find a barrier, email hello@flowingpurple.org. We'll respond and, where practical, provide the content in another format.
